Introducing #The3pmMovement

Introducing #The3pmMovement

The reason I started WIYWO in the first place was to help the corporate world to fit more exercise into their working week and to feel healthier and more productive. Speaking to Clients, colleagues, friends and family who work all week in an office environment plus from my own past experiences, there is a very well known phenomenon – the 3pm wall! I have a feeling it stems from school – we use to finish about that time and could relax and switch off a bit and have something to eat.

Post lunch but no-where near home time yet – energy levels start to slump, productivity slows and it is at this time of day when the chocolate vending machine gets its custom, the coffee machine is working overtime or that birthday cake that someone brought in gets finished off. Sugar levels drop. Fast release carbohydrates from lunch have been consumed and the glucose has been absorbed, effects of morning coffee have long gone and you have been awake for at least 8-9 hours and been sat at your desk for at lest 5 of these already. No-wonder you are not at your best by 3pm!

But what if there was something that could be done to counter this? I want to work with as many people as I can to make everyone sat at their desk feel more energised and productive, ready to tackle the rest of the afternoon and not feel they need to reach for a sugar or caffeine hit to get through to the end of the day.

I propose#The3pmMovement. Each day at 3pm, I am going to get you moving. Just a few minutes to look up from your computer screen and do a bit of stretching with some very simple moves. You don’t need to be a fit gym bunny to be able to do the moves, you don’t need to leap about and get sweaty in your suit. For a lot of the moves, you don’t even need to get out of your chair.

Set a notification in your diary for 3pm each week day. Get your colleagues involved. Get your friends involved. Get everyone you know who sits at a desk involved.

Let’s get the working world moving.
