Feel like you are cheating…

I find that my biggest problem when I am embarking on a new diet is lowering or losing the sugar all together – my biggest weakness! The Keto diet really does require you to be quite strict on this, due to the fat levels required to consume. So I took to my kitchen to try to think of some Keto friendly desserts that will feel like you are cheating on your diet but you aren’t – halo safe, don’t worry J

Below are a few delights I have been working on – tried and tested not only with me but the whole family. My real test is if it gets the thumbs up from the 6-year old, it must be alright!! They are all seriously yummy, just make sure you only have one of them per day – its quite easy to go over your daily calorie intake with these:

  1. Yog-choc pots (with choc dipped strawberries)
  2. Keto Krumble
  3. Mini chocolate brownie cakes

YOG-CHOC POTS (with choc dipped strawberries)

Ingredients:(makes 1 pot)

20g Greek Yoghurt

20g Coconut yoghurt

¼ teaspoon cinnamon

4 squares of chocologic dark chocolate

½ tsp. coconut oil

2 x strawberries

10g flaked almonds

Drop of vanilla extract

  • In a bowl over a pan of boiling water, melt the chocolate and coconut oil until smooth and melted. Take off the heat to cool a little
  • In a separate bowl stir together the Greek and coconut yoghurts, cinnamon and vanilla.
  • Spoon the yoghurt mixture into a pot and spoon the melted chocolate over the top to create a second layer
  • Chop up the strawberries and place on top of the chocolate layer and sprinkle the flakes almonds on top of the strawberries.
  • Use up the remaining chocolate by dipping some strawberries in it and cooling them in the fridge before serving.

Macro’s per serving (two small or one larger):

Fat – 16.1g

Carbs – 8.6g

Protein – 5.7g

Sugar – 3.7g


I was working on this one on Sunday after making a fab Sunday roast chicken. I made the family a cherry crumble but had massive jealousy as the sugar and carb content was far too high for my diet. So after a bit of experimenting, I came up with the below. Really quite tasty and very low in sugar and carbs.

Tastes even better with some cream or Greek yoghurt on the top.

Ingredients: (makes 2 crumbles)

50g ground almonds

20g butter

½ teaspoon cinnamon

small punnet raspberries

20g blueberries

Tbsp. self raising flour or GF flour

To serve: a dash of cream or Greek yoghurt

  • In a pan, heat the raspberries and blueberries until they are soft and just starting to fall apart.
  • In a bowl place the ground almonds, flour and cinnamon.
  • Melt the butter and add to the flour mix. Stir in and then use your fingers to mix the ingredients together to form a crumble topping.
  • Place the fruit mix into two separate mini bowls and add the crumble topping on top of each.
  • Cook in the over at 180 degrees for about 15 minutes but just ensure the crumble doesn’t burn on top.

Fat – 22.4g

Carbs – 8.8g

Protein – 6.1g

Sugar – 3.4g


Ingredients: (makes 12 larger or 24 small cupcakes)

100g ground almonds

4 eggs (large)

Heaped tsp. arrowroot powder

Heaped tsp. Xanthan gum

160g (two bars) chocologic dark chocolate

200g butter

Tsp. coconut oil

Heaped tbsp. self-raising flour or GF flour

40g smooth peanut butter

To serve (optional): A dash of cream and a few berries.

  • In a bowl over a pan of boiling water, melt the chocolate, coconut oil, butter and peanut butter until smooth and melted.
  • Place the ground almonds, arrowroot, xanthan gum and self-raising flour in a bowl and give it a mix. Add in the eggs and mix in.
  • Bring all the ingredients together and give it a good mix so there are no lumps. It will look quite runny due to the high levels of butter in there.
  • Spoon into little cupcake cups in a baking tray and cook for approx. 20 minutes in the oven, 180 degrees
  • You do need to keep an eye on them as they can burn quite easily and they will be very bubbly, but don’t worry they cool down quick quickly and set once out of the oven.
  • Really yummy slightly warm or after being in the fridge to set a bit more.
  • They do last quite a few days as well as long as you keep them stored in the fridge.
